Smell the (dead) roses

Hello world,

I hope you all have been having a wonderful Thankgiving weekend. I had the week off from school and I must say it was awesome. I didn’t realize how much I just needed time to chill, sleep in, and smell the (dead) roses. It wasn’t even completely lazy. I matched TON of socks, cleaned around that house,  looked for a job,  etc. But the amount of non-stress this week was a beautiful thing.

Today I reread Wonder by R.J. Palacio which is a, wonderful story by the way. I definitely recommend it. This was one of those times when you start reading book and you just finish it in one day. I used to do that all the time, usually to the detriment of my schoolwork and sanity. However, today there was no guilt,  nothing hanging over head, just the simple pleasure of being completely immersed in a another world.

I know that most people don’t get a whole week off from school or work before Thanksgiving and I hope that this doesn’t cause any jealousy among those who still have to work. But I hope you get a chance in the near future to set aside time to just chill, smell the dead leaves, and enjoy the simple things in life.

P.S. The picture is of some random teacups I found in the thrift store. My Aesthetic.

Back to School. Lovely.

You may not know this, but I have started started my Senior year of high school. On one hand, I’m excited for the year and what it may bring.  On the other hand, I  am so done with high school.  Can I get an amen? Also, I would much rather be reading, knitting, and writing blog posts than doing schoolwork. Therefore,  I’ve decided to motivate myself by decorating my notebooks with washi tape.

I would like you guys to know that this not what my desk normally looks like. I use an old grey table and it is usually chaos. However,  I am trying to add more beauty to my space, so I literally just put this scarf that I use for everything on my table. Voila! Instantly aesthetically pleasing.

On a more serious note this is my last year of high school and I do struggle with getting my schoolwork done and time management and such. So if you have any encourage/ motivating bible verses to share, please comment. And pray for me. I would be happy to do the same for you. Let’s get through this year strong, TOGETHER!
p.s. If you would like me to show you how I decorated my notebooks, please comment and tell me so.

Heaven is My Happily Ever After

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Happily Ever After.” “And they lived happily ever after.” Think about this line for a few minutes. Are you living happily ever after? If not, what will it take for you to get there? While I do think I live a pretty joyful life, in the it […]

Daily Prompt Response: Beauty

Absolute Beauty
We've all heard that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Do you agree?
Is all beauty contingent on a subjective point of view?

I would agree with this statement, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Different people have different point of view. If you are a child who lives in poverty and nothing else, then you see your first glimpse of civilization, there are two ways that you could react.

  1. You could be amazed by everything you see and find beauty in the things that most of us take for granted.
  2. Because you have a different worldview, you could be suspicious and see the problem that people who are used to it don’t see.

It would really depend on the who the observer is.I happen to like The Bronze Bow, but my best friend can’t stand it. To her, it is not a beautiful book. Another example, my sister’s favorite color is bright orange, but for me, there are very few shades of orange (or yellow) that I actually like. Bright orange is beautiful to her.

Is all beauty contingent on a subjective point of view?

When you look a the media and the fashion world and what’s “in” right now with this in mind, you wonder why what certain designers or celebrities say about being beautiful is considered the standard of beauty, when they are human beings just like the rest of us who have our own preferences and perspectives. The only one who is and therefore knows the absolute of beauty is God Almighty. He created the heavens and Earth.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…God saw all that He had made, and it was very good.Genesis 1:1, 31a. HCSB

Why I have to wait ’til I am 18 to watch the next Narnia movie.

I love the Narnia books and movies, which is why I am really upset by Walden Media’s decision to go on a 7 year moratorium for Narnia movies. If the moratorium started from the release of  The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, than the public will have to wait until 2018 to see the The Silver Chair, which is probably the next movie to be released. I am 12 years old and personally, I don’t think that I want to wait for about six years to watch the next movie.

The first movie, which is based on The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, stays the closest to the story. The I was kind of disappointed about Prince Caspian, though it was fun to view the story and characters in action. The same with The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Although I do not think that Walden Media will do any better with the Silver Chair,(Please excuse my pessimism) it will be very difficult to wait for such an interminable time. But as the Bible says: A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense. Proverbs 19: 11
