“Alcohol is for the dying, and wine for those in bitter distress. Let them drink to forget their poverty and remember their troubles no more.” Proverbs 31:6-7
Historically, wine and other alcoholic drinks have been used for medicinal purposes; to soothe pains, sterilize wounds, and to settle one nerves. However, it is often used in excess because of its calming properties and causes people to lose their judgement. King Lemuel’s mother knew that alcohol was better used by people who actually need it.
